01 - Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
02 - Combine ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a bowl. Mix thoroughly and shape into 4 equal patties, approximately 3/4 inch thick.
03 - Fry bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp, about 6-8 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess grease.
04 - Cook beef patties on grill or skillet for 3-4 minutes per side until desired doneness. Place cheddar cheese slice on each patty during the final minute to melt.
05 - Lightly toast burger buns cut-side down until golden brown.
06 - Build each burger by spreading mayonnaise on bottom bun, layering lettuce, tomato, cheesy patty, bacon strips, avocado slices, and onion if using. Crown with top bun.
07 - Serve immediately accompanied by your preferred sides.
