Light, fruity watermelon granita with lime. Perfect summer treat that's simple to make and naturally sweet.

# What You Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 5 cups seedless watermelon, cubed
02 - 1 lime, juiced (about 2 tbsp)

→ Sweeteners

03 - 1/3 cup granulated sugar

→ Optional Flavor

04 - 2 tbsp fresh mint leaves, finely chopped

# How To Make It:

01 - Place watermelon cubes in a blender. Add lime juice and sugar. Blend until very smooth.
02 - Taste and adjust sweetness, adding more sugar if desired. If using, stir in chopped mint.
03 - Pour the mixture into a shallow, freezer-safe baking dish, spreading evenly. Freeze for about 90 minutes.
04 - Using a fork, scrape the surface to break up any ice crystals.
05 - Return to the freezer. Every 30 minutes, scrape thoroughly with a fork, repeating for 3-4 hours, until the mixture is light and fluffy.
06 - Serve granita in chilled glasses or bowls. Garnish with extra mint or lime zest if desired.

  • The scraping process is weirdly satisfying, like a mini meditation practice in your kitchen
02 -
  • The scraping is non negotiable, it's what creates those beautiful icy crystals instead of a solid watermelon ice block
  • A shallow metal dish freezes faster and more evenly than glass or plastic
03 -
  • Set a timer for those 30 minute scraping intervals, otherwise you will absolutely forget and end up with a watermelon ice block
  • If you want it extra smooth, strain the blended mixture through a fine mesh before freezing
